Harlem’s Fashion Row Fashion Show sponsored by Marriott, Dark & Lovely and Smartwater

HFR Celebrates Its 5th Year Anniversary at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Its Renowned Fashion Show During New York Fashion Week

New York, N.Y. (September 3rd, 2012) – Today, Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) announces its stellar production, drawing innovative designers of color from across the country. For five years HFR has supported premier events that create a connection between designers of color and fashion designs that speak to the desire for individual style.

HFR is no longer only a signature show by typical designers, it’s a fast growing movement. With five years devoted to the development and enrichment of emerging designers, HFR has seen amazing results. Industry experts, such as Fern Mallis of the CFDA, selected five designers to present their Spring/Summer 2013 collections during New York Fashion Week thru HFR and the media response has been astounding.

On September 7th, HFR will kick off the exclusive invite only festivities for its 5th Year Anniversary at the luxurious Allen room of Jazz at Lincoln Center. HFR is joined by sponsors Dark and Lovely, Smart Water, Marriott as well as the following media outlets Associated Press, AOL and HuffPost Black Voices.

HFR is proud to present its Spring 2013 runway show featuring an influential force in fashion, Kevan Hall, exclusively on Friday, September 7th at 8:00 P.M. at Jazz Lincoln Center. Hall, a 2012 Harlem’s Fashion Row honoree, will unveil his new collection to major media outlets, celebrities, socialites, and industry tastemakers. Detroit native, Kevan Hall’s fashion creativity emerged early, redefining the hallowed house of Halston into the next millennium was a challenging task, but Hall stepped into the prestigious position of Design and Creative Director, from Fall 1998 to Spring 2000 and revived the brand to its former glory. His sleek eveningwear was worn by a distinguished coterie of celebrated artists including: Celine Dion, Sharon Stone, Charlize Theron, and Salma Hayek.

“I am honored to show my Spring 2013 collection at HRF’s 5th anniversary fashion show. It is an exciting showcase that provides designers the opportunity to gain exposure to the fashion industry and I am thrilled to be a part of this celebration.” Hall stated.

This opportunity is sponsored completely by HFR contributors and supporters. The following celebrated designers were selected among forty unique candidates and will debut their SS13 collections:

• Joseph Bethune Bethune Brothers is detailed with stitching that displays a tailored craftsmanship, both stylish and wearable; giving man clothing that fits the different elements of his life style.
• Latisha L. Daring The Ashtyn collection speaks to every woman and her sense of style. Self-expression through form and fit are key elements of this brand.
• Omar Salam In the Su Kei Na collection, the colors are vivid, while the fabrics are delicate, lush and elegant. Salam design etiquette tends to be very happy, flirty, and playful, mimicking nature, feathers, wings, or movement in the deep ocean.
• Nzinga Knight This collection is sensual; she’s edgy, mysterious, glamorous, and full of ease and grace.
