Fun fundraiser for the Cayman Islands Zak Quappe Flight Scholarship Fund

By Barrie Quappe

Dear Friends,

The Zak Quappe Flight Scholarship fund has just selected one 2017 recipient for the scholarship to achieve their Private Pilot’s Licence. Of course that means we need your help as we had such a talented group of applicant’s this year, we want to ensure others get their shot at learning to fly.

Our band “Sea ‘N B” has put together a special show consisting of your favorite music from The Beatles, The Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones. It will be yet another fabulous night and the Prospect Playhouse has generously donated the use of the theatre for this fundraiser.

Please reserve the date Friday 31st March 2017! CI$15 and go to the CDS site to eventbrite to reserve you seats now. Link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/60s-rock-n-roll-ticket-prices-listed-in-usd-tickets-32806480065

The Zak Quappe’ Flight Scholarship.

The fund is designed to help a young Caymanian obtain the necessary flight hours and training to obtain their Private Pilot License (PPL). The cost to obtain a Private Pilot License is more now than ever before. A large factor in this is fuel cost. Our goal is to raise $3000 to help contribute toward those costs.

Zak was passionate about his love of flying. He helped to train a number of students during his time with the Cayman Flying Club, many of them more than twice his age. That is no ordinary task at the young age of 21. It takes discipline, commitment, and lots of hard work. In his short 21 years he gained almost 400 hours of flight time which is quite an achievement. He was due to be called up to Cayman Airways Express in September 2013 until his unfortunate passing.
