FILA and FISG – Curling, historic tris for Italy men at the Grand Slam: the F-Box team also won the WFG Masters!

FILA

FILA is thrilled to update you with the news that the Men’s Curling Italian National Team continues its winning streak!

The F-Box team has just won the WGF Masters in Saskatoon, Canada, the third event of the Grand Slam 2022-2023 season. The ‘Azzurri’ defeated the Scottish ‘Silver Whytes’ (who were the silver medal winners at Beijing 2022) with a score of 3-2.

This marks the fourth Grand Slam final for the Italian team. It follows victories at the 2022 Masters, the Tour Challenge 23 (Niagara Falls, Ontario), and the recent triumph at the Kioti National 23 (Nova Scotia) in November. Athletes Joël Retornaz, Amos Mosaner, Sebastiano Arman, and Mattia Giovanella, have once again propelled the team to number 1 in the world rankings.

And let’s not forget the outstanding achievement of the Women’s National Team led by Stefania Constantini (gold medalist in Beijing 2022 in mixed doubles with teammate Amos Mosaner) alongside Elena Mathis, Marta Lo Deserto, Giulia Zardini Lacedelli, and Angela Romei They secured the silver medal in the Curling European Championship final in Aberdeen against the reigning world champion Switzerland.

FILA’s recently renewed partnership with the Italian Ice Sports Federation (FISG) Main Sponsor is proving to be phenomenal. Even before the 2022-2023 season, Italian athletes sponsored by FILA had already racked up a total of 8 medals – including two golds, three silvers, and three bronzes – at the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

For the 2024 season, events we can look forward to include the Women’s World Championships, March 16th to 24th, 2024, in Sydney, Canada; the Men’s World Championships in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, on March 30th to April 7th. The World Mixed Doubles Championship is set for late April in a location TBD.

Mark these dates in your diary, and from wherever you are send your support to our champions of the ice!
