Everything you need to pack for a motorhome getaway

A motorhome is a fantastic way to see the UK and experience different landscapes. You can drive along the open road and stop off at charming villages along the way. You might have a final destination in mind for the night, or you could look for a campsite that takes your fancy. You can have much more flexibility with a motorhome and rest easy knowing your bed is waiting for you at the end of a long day.

However, it can be tricky to decide what to pack for a motorhome adventure. We compiled a handy list of all the essentials you need for your trip, so you’re not leaving anything important behind.

Appropriate clothing

You need clothing for all kinds of weather in the UK. You might experience a heatwave in February, torrential rain in the summer and a thunderstorm at any time of the day. You need to be prepared for the unpredictable weather. Make sure you pack a raincoat, waterproof footwear, plenty of jumpers and one pair of shorts in case the sun comes out.

Make sure you have everything you need for your morning and evening routine so you can feel at home on the motorhome. You also need to think about your toiletries. You need shampoo, conditioner, body wash and your skincare routine. You should also pack plenty of sun care as you will be spending more time outdoors than usual.

Tables and chairs

You might find yourself dining outside your motorhome. You will need collapsible tables and chairs to sit outside for dinner. You can fold it back up and slot it in a cupboard when you’re done. You should also think about all the chemicals and cleaning products you need when you’re away too.

Important documents

You need to do a little preparation so you can have the best motorhome holiday possible. Make sure you have motorhome insurance and the insurance papers on hand in case things go wrong. You also need access to a breakdown service, your driver license and all necessary electronics. Make sure your phone is charged, and a GPS service is downloaded and ready to go.

Kitchen essentials

You also need all of your kitchen essentials, like pots and pans. If you plan to cook in the van, you will need some basic spices and food. Get yourself a basic first aid kit, a flashlight, gas for power and any other safety essentials. You might be driving in a remote area and need access to immediate first aid. Safety always comes first.
