DMS staff dress down to dress up in living colour

jpeg-1DMS staff were dressed in a full rainbow spectrum in honour of this year’s Child Month theme “Care, Advocate, Protect” to raise funds for the Island wide dress down day on Friday May 10th.

Staff members contributed $5 to dress down on Friday and donned their bright colours for the cause.  Just under $500 was raised and DMS matched that donation for a cumulative donation of $1000 which will be donated to non-profit Association Feed Our Future.

The Association’s primary mission is to solve the problem of childhood hunger and to support intellectual nourishment in the Cayman Islands through the funding of nutritionally balanced lunches to children in need in Cayman’s schools.

jpeg-2Trina Savage, Vice President of Marketing & Communications and chair person of the DMS Gives Back committee, who organized the Dress Down Day said “As a mother I cannot fathom having to send my child to school on an empty stomach all day. It is empowering to be able to contribute in this way and assist our schools in being able to provide for those children in need. Cayman’s youth are our future, if they can’t concentrate on their studies because of a rumbling belly, then their grades and retention cannot possibly be at their full potential, because their basic human needs are not being met.”

The $1000 donation is the equivalent of 200 meals for needy students across Cayman.
