DLG Feldtage 2024 field day presents new concept and broad technical program

11-13 June, 2024 in Erwitte, Germany – “Crop production out of the box” guiding theme – Premiere of “FarmRobotix” platform – DLG Plaza and DLG Crop Night celebrate premiere – www.dlg-feldtage.de

With the “DLG Feldtage” 2024, a field day exhibition, the organizer DLG (German Agricultural Society) will be making a pioneering contribution to developing the future of agriculture and today’s food system, presenting innovative solutions and offering networking opportunities. The international venue for professionals in crop production, agriculture, agribusiness and the food industry is appropriately themed “Crop production out of the box”. Practitioners and professionals are invited to Estate Brockhof in Erwitte near Lippstadt, in the heart of the Soest Börde, to inspect innovations in crop cultivation, plant breeding, plant protection, fertilization management and agricultural machinery and technology as well as exchange ideas with like-minded experts.

Combining sustainability, the preservation of biodiversity and climate protection while achieving agricultural productivity requires a mind receptive to adopting new technology. “The DLG Feldtage field exhibition is the central venue for international crop production professionals, who don’t let these developments get the better of them, who are prepared to try unconventional farming methods and who are willing to challenge conventional thinking and practices. In the spirit of thinking and acting ‘crop production out of the box’, we will therefore bring the DLG Feldtage 2024 to life with fresh and novel ideas,” says Andreas Steul, project manager for DLG Feldtage, explaining the new concept.

New DLG Plaza: a hub for networking and practical knowledge acquisition

Farming practitioners are currently busy identifying innovative solutions that will help meet the challenges of developing agriculture and the food system of the future. With more than 250 exhibitors signed up at the DLG Feldtage, six months before the field exhibition starts, interest among companies to share their solutions is already high. Co-organizers of the DLG Feldtage are the The Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphali, Raiffeisen Waren-Zentrale Rhein-Main AG (RWZ), Cologne, and Raiffeisen Waren GmbH, Kassel.

Integrated in the overall theme “crop production out of the box”, the exhibition concept and program of the DLG Feldtage will offer new features. The broad technical program, which includes a central stand that presents, among others, DLG’s extensive agricultural work, will be located in the new DLG Plaza. Meanwhile, the “DLG stage” will be hosting panel discussions on topics relating to the value chain, from primary production to processing and trade to the future of crop protection and organic farming.  At the dedicated forum in the DLG Plaza or within the trial plots in the field, professional discussions on alternative crops and on achieving productivity while supporting biodiversity will round off the offering. The DLG stand will also offer opportunities for networking and provide information on further training. The “DLG Crop Night” will celebrate its premiere on 12 June, a networking event accompanied by live music.

Focusing on issues relating to the challenges of crop cultivation, biodiversity and pioneering technologies, the technical program will also include expert discussions topics like “Oil and protein crops”, “Successfully managing weather risks”, “Resilient agricultural systems”, “Organic farming”, “Photovoltaic in the field” and “Soil protection”.

Machinery demonstrations, a traditional part of DLG Feldtage, will offer a series of live demonstrations from weed control with row crop cultivators and tine harrows for cereals and maize, shallow tillage, including cultivators and shallow ploughs, to multi-tank seed drills for combined sowing of seeds and fertilizer, innovative technology for chemical crop protection, high-tech mineral fertilizer spreaders and technology for lifting, loading and filling in the field.

Premiere for “FarmRobotix” platform

A central highlight at the DLG Feldtage is the launch of the new FarmRobotix platform. An international platform, FarmRobotix will offer farming experts a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and digital solutions in crop production. The FarmRobotix platform was conceived by the DLG to meet the needs of farmers, manufacturers, start-ups and suppliers of farm robot technology for a comprehensive and practical overview of farm robotics that aids decision-making for the farm and offers impetus for product development. Also attracting representatives from science and research as well as development engineers, investors and venture capitalists who come to network, transfer know-how and explore innovative technologies, FarmRobotix promotes business networking in an emerging industry that has the potential to transform agricultural production. Following the DLG Feldtage event, FarmRobotix will continue to offer visitors to other DLG trade fairs and events such as EuroTier, the leading trade fair for livestock management, and Agritechnica, the world’s leading agricultural machinery exhibition, a forum for know-how transfer and networking.

From camping to glamping

A first at the exhibition, visitors at this year’s DLG Feldtage will be able to set up tents directly at the site, a feature which is expected to be popular among international visitors. The dedicated area offers most options, including classic camping in a tent, camper van or motorhome and luxurious glamping. In cooperation with agricultural travel partners, visitors can book a multi-day trip to DLG-Feldtage and take advantage of visits to exhibiting companies in the region.

Location Soest Börde

The DLG Feldtage 2024 will be hosted by the Brockhof Estate, located in the heart of the Soester Börde. Preparatory work will start on site in 2023 during the summer. Both the Tägder family, who manages the farm, and Carolin Möller, the owner of the estate, are looking forward to this edition of the DLG Feldtage, which was rescheduled due to the pandemic. The Brockhof estate farm cultivates potatoes, sugar beets, winter wheat, barley and silage corn, as well as silphium perfoliatum, on some 290 hectares. Arable farming is supplemented by broiler chickens and a biogas plant. The last edition of DLG Feldtage took place last year at Kirschgartshausen estate, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg in June 2022.
