Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing Announces Temporary Service Interruption for Hot Plate Machine Maintenance

George Town, Grand Cayman – 4th December 2023. The Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL) wishes to inform the public about a temporary service interruption regarding its hot plate machine. Due to technical issues, the hot plate machine is currently inoperable and cannot process new license plates.

DVDL is actively working with its overseas suppliers to expedite the replacement part required to restore the hot plate machine to full functionality. During this period, we want to reassure our valued customers that there will be no service interruptions with regard to any vehicle licensing.

In accordance with Section 8(4) of the Traffic Act (2023) Revision, the Director of DVDL will issue Temporary Plates to ensure that vehicle licensing processes continue seamlessly. These Temporary Plates will be valid for six months from the date of issue, allowing our customers to maintain their compliance with the law.

DVDL is committed to resolving this matter as quickly as possible and will notify the public as soon as the hot plate machine is fully operational again. We apologise for any inconveniences caused and appreciate your understanding.
