CUC recognised for Junior Achievment

CUC Gov certCaribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) has been recognised for hosting a Junior Acheivement Company.  Sixteen students from a number of high schools on the island participated in the programme which started in October 2012 and finished in March this year. The children, under the guidance of 10 CUC advisors formed the “Made For You” company and created necklaces, bracelets and earrings from recycled magazine paper.

Lead Advisor Richard Solomon said, “It was an honour to be part of a programme in which we saw tremendous progress in the children. We witnessed them become transformed in the way they interacted with each other, their work ethic and their overall behaviour. CUC is pleased to have been a part of this programme and all of the advisors have agreed that there is indeed good value in giving back to the community particularly when the results are as good as they have been in this programme.”

At a reception held at the residence of His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CUC, along with other companies were recognised for the role played in teaching the students how businesses function and for guiding them through the production, marketing and selling of a product.

CUC has been a long time supporter of the Junior Achievement programme.
