Cubans rescued in Cayman Brac waters

Nine Cuban migrants arrived in Cayman Brac Wednesday afternoon 13 July 2016, on a makeshift vessel which crashed into rocks along the West Side of the island.

The illegal migrants, all males, received treatment at Faith Hospital for minor injuries and were released to officials in Cayman Brac, pending transfer to Grand Cayman.

This brings the total number of illegal migrants in the Cayman Islands to 74.

Now that work at the Immigration Detention Centre has been completed, officials expect that all illegal migrants presently on Grand Cayman will shortly be housed there.
