Crane Tipped Over-Main Street, GT by CIBC First Caribbean Bank

At approximately 11.35hrs today a 27 year old male was transported to George Town Hospital with critical injuries. The male was operating a crane in the process of carrying out work on the First Caribbean Bank in Main Street, George town when it apparently flipped over, throwing the male to the ground and also damaging CUC power lines.

Emergency services and CUC attended  the scene a short time later.

Roads are currently blocked from Dr Roys Drive/Shedden Road to Main Street whilst repair work is being done by CUC. The repairs are expected to take several hours and motorists are asked to take alternative routes.

Some customers along Shedden Road, Dr. Roy’s Drive, the Citrus Grove Building, the Police Station and the Post Office are currently without power.

This outage was caused by the above accident which  resulted in two utility poles being broken.

CUC’s crews are on location and are working to restore power in as safe and efficient a manner as possible.

It is anticipated that all power will be restored by 9:00 pm.

CUC apologizes for the inconvenience this outage has caused.
