Corey Christian emerges top performer for Cayman Islands Government in April

Corey with awards CSD Group 1 PresentationA “go to” person for government senior management for any mobile related issue, Computer Services System Administrator Corey Christian is renowned throughout government for his service mentality.

Accordingly, his colleagues were unsurprised when Mr. Christian was chosen by the Deputy Governor as the best performer for April among all Cayman Islands Government (CIG) personnel.

Part of a team that also provides after-hours IT support for government, Mr. Christian is quick to respond, and meets client needs without heed to the time that is required, even after hours. In fact, he often meets minor off-duty calls at no cost to government; with a view to saving government money, since off-duty calls qualify for a two-hour overtime minimum.

Mr. Christian has also proven his usefulness time and again in a number of other areas. A technology buff, he immediately looks into every technical problem that he hears about in the department. After doing his research, he invariably offers a solution to the end user.

He also passes on to his superiors, new developments that he learns about in the IT industry which are relevant to government operations. In fact, his quick-thinking helped avert a recent vulnerability that would have affected secure connections to many of government’s web services. “Our security professional had to play catch-up to Corey’s quick actions,” his nominator states.

Lauding his contributions, Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson, Cert. Hon., JP, emphasised Mr. Christian’s role in the department’s network upgrade project. “The exceptional quality of the work produced was a testimony to Mr. Christian’s work ethic and professionalism,” he commented.

In addition, the Deputy Governor lauded Mr. Christian for furthering his tertiary education by pursuing, at Walden University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, with concentration in networking and operations.

Replying, Mr. Christian said the award reflects his entire department’s contributions. “I am most grateful for being nominated and chosen for the award. This is a proud moment in my life,” he added.
