Connecting and Sharing

ASi Board membersSharing Christ in the Marketplace

Adventist-laymen’s Services & Industries (ASi) is a cooperative network of lay individuals, professionals, business owners, and ministries who collectively support the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

As members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church they use their business and business contacts to foster the mission of the Church. This body, though an independent entity, functions as a supporting organization by seeking always to work in harmony with the goals, objectives and mission of the church. ASI is governed by the rules of its constitution and is not a department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The ASi Food Drive branded “Connecting and Sharing” has been a great success. Volunteers willing to be used in service to the community supported this great effort. Launched on 21st November, 2012 it saw a great turnout of volunteers who participated in this first fundraising event under the new ASi-Cayman board. The “Connecting and Sharing” Food Drive was held at Fosters Food Fair stores, from West Bay to Savannah during a 2 week period. Volunteers joined forces with ASi Field Officers and Executive to help feed the poor and needy as well as raise funds for the organization.

Dean Evans, the President of ASi-Cayman was overseas attending to personal matters and Sister Annie K. Price, who coordinated the Food Drive activities, assisted by Patricia Mendez and Greg James, said that a total of 1600 pieces of Christian literature were distributed to generous shoppers. Shoppers demonstrated their trust in the Adventists, by their quick response once informed of the organization behind the Food drive. Shoppers also expressed their admiration to volunteers for giving up their time to support such a worthy cause, some asked for prayers and some made recommendations of families who are genuinely in need. Shoppers were assured that the Department of Children and Family Services would benefit from the donated goods as well as other needy members of the community. Some shoppers were impressed by the Holy Spirit to make monetary donations to ASi-Cayman, in addition to donated food and clothes.

ASi-Cayman would like to thank God for his many blessings first as well as the field officers and volunteers who tirelessly came out and gave of their time. The Food Drive has conveyed to the Public and the Church that ASi-Cayman is working with the Church in the area of Community Services, amongst others.

Distribution of clothes and food items will take place over the next 2-3 weeks. Steps to Christ booklets will be also be added to food parcels at the time of distribution. Beneficiaries will be given the opportunity to add their names to a prayer list. Each will be followed-up by ASi Evangelists Gallago and Campbell, with an invitation to participate in small groups in their district.

All Community services departments are asked to submit names of needy persons in their districts to Pastor Wesley Nyack, the Director of the Community Services Department by December 15, 2012.

ASI was formed in 1947 in the United States of America and now exists in over 50 countries. ASI-Cayman was formed in 2001 and is a part of ASI, Inter-America Division, which hosts a convention in a different Caribbean or Central American country each year.

This unique and diverse group of approximately 1,000 members ranges from business owners to individual professionals to supporting ministries. In short, ASI members are Adventists from every walk of life.

ASI’s philosophy promotes a Christ-centered lifestyle, manifested by a commitment to be in daily partnership with God. ASI members seek to experience God’s love in their own lives and share that love with the people they encounter in their everyday work and activities—hence ASI’s motto, Sharing Christ in the Marketplace.

Furthermore, ASI is committed to supporting the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its various outreach programs; which include health, education, evangelism, community services, family concerns and special projects.

Donors who wish to make additional donations can deliver nonperishable food or other items, such as toiletries, to IMP, located between the Lions Centre and Grand Harbour; or they can call 939-3900 to make collection arrangements.
