CONCACAF: Gold Cup berths at stake as Caribbean Cup returns to action

feat_trinidad-032916vstvincentgrenadinescelebration-769x385KINGSTON, Jamaica – Despite Hurricane Matthew causing the postponement of two matches, the 2016/17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup resumes on Wednesday with a pair of games.

In Group 3, Curacao will host Antigua & Barbuda, while the Dominican Republic visits Trinidad & Tobago for a Group 4 encounter.

The Jamaica-Suriname and Haiti-French Guiana matches in Group 1 and Group 2, respectively, will be rescheduled.

The Caribbean Cup is a biennial competition that crowns the region’s champion and will send the four, third-round group winners to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.  The fifth-place side will face the fifth-place team from Central America for the last berth.

In 2015, for the first-ever time, the Caribbean’s quartet of representatives – Cuba, Haiti Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago — advanced past the Gold Cup’s group stage.

Here’s the schedule of third-round games:
