CIG Gives Recovery Centre Hope For Today

Hope for Today Presentation 9 2 13 SJA non-profit addiction recovery centre in West Bay recently received a cheque from the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), presented by Deputy Premier and Education Minister, Hon. Rolston Anglin, and Tourism Minister, Hon. Cline Glidden.

The facility, known as the Hope for Today Foundation, is run by a board of directors. It consists of separate male and female residences and presently houses six men and two women. The centre also provides regular services—such as thrice weekly 12-step recovery meetings– to those in the community who are struggling with addiction.

Hope for Today collaborates with a number of government agencies that provide recovery services such as the National Drug Council, the Drug Court, the Department of Counselling and Caribbean Haven.

Minister Anglin says that the donation was motivated by the strongly positive impact which the centre has had on people suffering from substance addiction and by extension the larger community.

Since its 2010 launch several persons have passed through the Hope for Today programme who have maintained their sobriety and found steady work. The group also visits schools where it speaks to students about making informed decisions with regards to drug use.
