GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman: Caymanians and permanent residents interested in careers at some of the Cayman Islands’ leading hotels are being given the opportunity to explore what opportunities are available to them.

Ahead of what tourism officials expect to be a busy 2023-2024 tourist season, a hospitality job fair is being hosted to match locally available talent with positions at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and the soon to be opened Hotel Indigo, Grand Cayman. The event will be hosted by Dart, which owns the three properties, at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa at on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

With hundreds of positions to be filled, Dart’s objective is to attract as many interested Caymanians as possible to be part of an authentic visitor experience. The job fair is open to Caymanians, permanent residents and holders of Residency and Employment Rights Certificates.

“One of the attributes of an attractive tourism product are the faces and personalities who can authentically represent the destination. That’s why we are showcasing the various opportunities that we have at these amazing properties,” said Joanne Lawson, Dart Chief of Staff.

“Tourism and hospitality careers can be some of the most lucrative and rewarding around. Joining these world-class brands that are known for excellence in service delivery can open the doors to endless possibilities from front desk and concierge posts to food and beverage, housekeeping, landscaping and a variety of other positions. The job fair is intended to connect those with the right qualities with opportunities that can help those candidates maximise their potential in the industry,” Lawson added.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa are the only two hotels in the Cayman Islands to secure the coveted Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating and Hotel Indigo, Grand Cayman is scheduled to open its doors in April 2024 and will be the Caribbean’s first Indigo-branded hotel.

The job fair follows on Dart’s bid to provide training to young Caymanians to be the destination’s ideal tourism ambassadors through the Dart Hospitality Training Programme, which features three months of paid on-the-job training and exposure across a variety of roles in one of the main pillars of the Cayman Islands economy.

A total of 12 graduates successfully completed the first iteration of the Dart Hospitality Training Programme in August 2022. The second cohort began in August 2023 and are benefiting from a partnership with the Florida-based Lynn University to provide a curriculum to include hotel etiquette, guest relations and problem solving before formal on-the-job training. Another 14 Caymanians aged 16-29 are scheduled to graduate in November.

“With the outstanding young people who have been coming through the programme, we’re seeing a renewed interest in hospitality industry careers,” said Dart Hospitality Programme Manager Dianne Conolly. “We are hoping that those who have a genuine attraction to the industry will make the most of the opportunity provided by the job fair, as the training provided to new employees at these hotels are also a great way to immerse yourself in the hospitality industry,” she added.

Individuals interested in attending the job fair are strongly encouraged to register online at www.dart.ky/hospitality.
