Cayman: Update to eligibility criteria for assistance from the Needs Assesment Unit

The Needs Assessment Unit (NAU) has updated its eligibility criteria as of 20 July, 2022, to better serve older persons and persons with disabilities which are permanent in nature. Going forward, after having previously qualified for NAU assistance, these individuals will not have to undertake a full re-application process. Instead, the NAU will verify that their circumstances have not changed, using a “Continuation Certificate”.

This policy change will reduce the burden on the people who really need financial assistance. Previously, the NAU required these individuals to engage in a full re-application process every three years.

The Continuation Certificate can be used by older persons and persons with disabilities which are permanent in nature who have been accessing financial assistance, and their household only has older persons, those with disabilities and dependents.

This information and the Continuation Certificate is available on the NAU website under the “Forms” section: www.nau.gov.ky/forms

The Needs Assessment Unit reminds the public of its upcoming “District Days”, which will be held in East End and North Side on Friday 5 August, Bodden Town on 12 August, and West Bay on 19 August. More information is available on the “Events” section of the website. The NAU also regularly updates its Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/NAUCayman

Anyone making a new application or a renewal is reminded to utilise the NAU’s online application form, accessible via www.nau.gov.ky.  Documents can be uploaded through the online form.
