Blockchain startups are finding freedom in CEC’s blockchain/Fintech hub, Cayman Tech City, and that is good news for the Cayman Islands

Cayman Tech City, part of the Cayman Enterprise City special economic zone, is co-hosting the 15th global edition of d10e from the 27th to the 30th  of January at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (17 January 2018) – After a year of new triumphs, led by the cryptocurrency race to bring virtual currencies to the high street, the blockchain industry will start 2018 —an anticipated big year—from the shores of the Cayman Islands. Cayman Tech City, part of the Cayman Enterprise City special economic zone, is co-hosting the 15th global edition of d10e from the 27th to the 30th of January at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. This event is part of the leading conference series on the decentralization of the economy, and will bring cryptocurrency experts, executives and blockchain investors from around the word to the Cayman Islands.

Mike Costache, the founder of the BIC, CEO of d10e, and Managing Partner of KrowdMentor, stated,
“We look forward to this new year of innovation through blockchain technology, and to meeting you all on this exciting journey. Join us for more fun, one-on-one networking, amazing blockchain speakers, and to learn about the hottest ICOs of the moment.”

Organizers hope to capitalize on the momentum built up last year and focus on the race toward a unifying theme — decentralization. Local and international organizations can also take part in an ICO (Initial Coin Offering) pitch competition for the chance to win a third of the $100,000 investment pool prize provided by members of the Blockchain Investor Consortium (BIC). Moreover, d10e offers a vibrant networking experience for participants, so those who pitch may win the hearts (and wallets) of the judges and other investors at the conference. Discussions are scheduled to take place on the beautiful grounds of the Ritz Carlton, and several other sites throughout Grand Cayman — an ideal opportunity to highlight Cayman as an emerging blockchain jurisdiction of choice and Cayman Tech City as an efficient and cost-effective vehicle for blockchain development businesses to set up a physical offshore presence.

The Cayman Islands have already seen many blockchain and cryptocurrency companies set up a physical presence within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). “The influx of blockchain focused companies represents roughly 25% growth for the SEZ over the past 7 months” explains, Cayman Enterprise City’s CEO Charlie Kirkconnell. “The qualifications and experience of our blockchain focused clients are very impressive, which has convinced me that there is much more to the ‘blockchain revolution’ than I at first suspected.”

As the tech industry discovers the combination of financial incentives, unique concessions, cutting- edge infrastructure, and a growing tech community within a tax-exempt tech zone situated in a picturesque island paradise, the Cayman Islands can expect further growth. “Companies setting up in the SEZ need, and will continue to need, access to readily available qualified talent to meet their staffing requirements,” notes Kirkconnell. Cayman Enterprise City announced in an article earlier this year that it will establish a coding academy in early 2018, for the purpose of providing training opportunities for Caymanians seeking to develop technical careers.
