Cayman National Cultural Day a success

The Cayman Islands Cassava Cake dessert competition entry

In a celebration of cultural diversity Cayman National held its second Cultural Day event.  The Cayman National Cultural Day is a biennial event and is marked as a time to celebrate and represent the individual cultures and nationalities of our staff within the Cayman National family.  The event was held at the Lions Centre with approximately 200 employees and family members in attendance.

Many cultural dishes were prepared for a diverse food tasting from the different nationalities. The highlight of the evening was the authentic dessert competition which was judged on taste, originality and presentation. The Spanish team was the ultimate victor with their Cuban cake. Kids enjoyed bouncing castles and face painting, which were incorporated to keep them entertained.

With nationalities from Cayman, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Cuba, Venezuela, Honduras, Colombia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, USA, Canada, UK, Poland, India, and Netherlands, the event acknowledged the likenesses and differences, the strengths, unique abilities and skills that each individual brings to the table to contribute to the success of this organisation. Despite the rainy weather staff still came out to participate in the event which was a success.
