Leaders with Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman (WORC) are proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Katherine Whittaker as its new Head of Labour Demands, Development and Training.

Ms. Whittaker has been a civil servant for 28 years and during this time served as the Director of the Youth Services Unit from 2007 to 2018, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Youth and Sports from 2003 to 2007.

Ms. Whittaker has also served in the education field for many years as a teacher with the former Cayman Islands Middle School, as well as at John Gray High School, where she later became the Deputy Head of the English Department. In addition, she was an Associate Inspector with the Office of Education Standards and supported the inspection of schools.

In 2017, Ms. Whittaker completed a secondment with the Portfolio of the Civil Service (POCS) where she was a Manager in Leadership & Learning, among other duties. During her 14-month post she managed the Institute of Leadership Management (ILM) Level 3 Certificate course, and assisted other Government agencies with its testing/examination tools.

Ms. Whittaker was also an officer with POCS’s Corporate and Strategic Human Resource Unit where she helped facilitate the evaluation of job descriptions and the recruitment process for various Government entities.

WORC Director, Sharon Roulstone, said: “As the agency formally known as National Workforce Development Agency (NWDA) continues to transition to WORC, Ms. Whittaker will play a crucial role in executing the vision of WORC, which is to lead the pursuit of full Caymanian employment and economic prosperity for all through service excellence.”

Ms. Whittaker’s main responsibilities will include the collection of data by analysing the present and future labour force demands, in order to better prepare Caymanians to participate fully in those markets through various professional development and training opportunities.

Ms. Roulstone added: “We are delighted to welcome Ms. Whittaker to the WORC family and look forward to supporting her efforts in leading the new vision and goals for WORC.”
