UPDATE: Cayman Islands: Two males arrested – burglary, South Sound

The 31 year – old and 25 year – old males; arrested on Monday 14 June 2015 in South Sound by a uniform patrol on suspicion of burglary, have now been charged with the following offences;

1) Going equipped to steal

2) Taking a conveyance without the owner’s consent

3) Conspiracy to commit burglary

A fourth charge of (providing a false name) to officers, has been laid against the 31 year – old.

During the execution of a search warrant at the residence of the accused men, over forty (40) items of what is believed to be stolen property has been recovered. Investigators are following up with recent burglaries to identify where these items are believed to be stolen from. The property includes electronic equipment, furniture, jewelry and cash.

During this investigation, the accused men have been subsequently re – arrested for burglary. They are scheduled to appear in court later today.

GRAND CAYMAN: Just after 11:00pm on Monday 15 June 2015, two males age 31 year and 25 years were arrested in South Sound when a uniform patrol saw them acting suspiciously dressed in black hoodies and gloves. On seeing the officers, the suspects fled on foot, but were captured soon afterwards by the uniform officers.

An area search was conducted in the neighbourhood and it was discovered that a private home, empty at the time, had been broken into. A motor car connected to the suspects was recovered nearby, searched, and articles of house breaking was found.

The accused men are natives of the Dominican Republic, working locally on work permits – remain in police custody.

A third male is being sought in connection with this incident.
