Cayman Islands Trade and Business Licensing Law public meeting

Who: Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI)

What: Public meeting on the Trade and Business Licensing (TBL) Law, specifically health insurance and pension requirements.

Where: Town Hall, downtown George Town

When: 7pm-8:30pm Thursday, 31 March 2016

Background: The TBL Law came into force on 1 January, 2016 with a number of changes to previous legislation. The new law was designed to create a level playing field for business owners, and to make the overall business licensing system much more efficient.

A number of alterations were made to the business licensing process, with grants and renewals of licences requiring additional documentation; such as health insurance and pension information.

The aim of the public meeting is to provide greater clarity and understanding within the business community on the role of health and pension regulations in regards to business licensing.

Participants: DCI, Bilika Simamba of Nexus Training Ltd, Superintendent of Health Insurance Mervyn Conolly, Superintendent of Pensions Amy Wolliston, Chamber of Commerce President Paul Pearson, Cayman Islands Small Business Association President Dawn McLean-Sawney.
