Man Arrested for Causing Death by Dangerous Driving

The man, age 32, who was arrested last Saturday, 19 September, on suspicion of Dangerous Driving, was arrested this afternoon for Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.  The man was driving a car which crashed on the morning of 14 September and ignited.  The man is suffering from burns to 20% of his body during the crash, and the passenger in the vehicle, Jessie Perry, suffered burns to 80% of her body and succumbed to her injuries late yesterday at a hospital in Jamaica.  The man was arrested at George Town Hospital, where he has been receiving treatment since the crash.  He is on Police Bail.

The man, age 32, from George Town, who was driving the car in which Jessie Perry was injured on Monday morning, 14 September, has been arrested on suspicion of Dangerous Driving. The man also sustained burn injuries in the crash and has been in the hospital since Monday. He is on Police Bail.

About 1:30AM Monday morning, 14 September, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on West Bay Road near Public Beach.  A man and woman were on the ground near the burning vehicle when police arrived, both with severe burns.  They were transported by ambulance to George Town Hospital.  The woman [later named as Jessie Perry], who was a passenger in the vehicle, has burns over 80% of her body and is in critical condition.  The man, the driver, has burns over 20% of his body and is in stable condition.

The car, a black Audi, appears to have been traveling on West Bay Road in the direction of West Bay. Upon reaching the bend to the right at the Public Beach in SMB, the car collided into the curved wall and flipped on its roof.  The fuel line appears to have ruptured and ignited.
