Cayman Islands Premier visits National Museum

s  Museum Tour 415- (18) s Museum Tour 415- (4) s Museum Tour 415- (9) s Museum Tour 415- (14) s Museum Tour 415- (22)An appreciation of the workings of the Cayman Islands National Museum (CINM) was enhanced during a tour of the statutory authority by Premier Alden McLaughlin on Tuesday, 28 April 2015.

As Minister responsible for culture, Mr. McLaughlin was accompanied by Counsellor Roy McTaggart, Chief Officer Jennifer Ahearn and Deputy Chief Officer Nancy Barnard. Museum Director Dr. Peggy Leshikar-Denton led the tour of the waterfront landmark facility, while Curations and Collection Manager Debra Barnes-Tabora led the tour of the Museum’s support facility in Pasadora Place. Also present were Board Chairman Alfonso Wright, Deputy Chair Omar McLean, as well as member and former CINM Director Anita Ebanks.

The visitors were briefed on the permanent and changing exhibits. One such exhibit, “Sporting Stars”, concluded this week, illustrated the development of sport in the Cayman Islands and celebrated the star athletes and sporting personalities who have paved the way.

The Director presented the dignitaries with parting gifts from the Museum’s gift shop.
