Early Morning Robbery in West Bay

At approximately 1:30AM this morning, Thursday, 13 August, a woman, age 50, was awoken by the movement of two male intruders in the bedroom of her home on Town Hall Road in West Bay.

A demand for money was made, and one of the men appeared to be in possession of a hand gun. There was no money at the property and the men made off with a small amount of jewelry taken from bedside drawers.

An attempt had been made to gain entry through a window before access was gained by a partially insecure doorway. The only description of the offenders is that one was around 6 feet tall, with the second being shorter. Both men had their faces covered. The matter was not reported to Police until 5:20AM.

Detectives from West Bay CID are investigating and anyone with any information is asked to call 949-3999 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).

Woman arrested at burglary scene charged today (Thu 13) at 4:41 PM

With respect to the arrest on 12 August [“Woman Arrested at Scene of Burglary in George Town] please be advised that the woman was charged today with burglary and criminal trespass, and appeared in court today. She has been remanded in custody until her next appearance on 20 August 2015.

Burglary arrest results from proactive police stop

At around 5:10PM on Tuesday, 11 August, patrolling uniform police officers in West Bay conducted a proactive stop search of a man in the vicinity of Powell Smith Drive.

The man was found to be in possession of a cell phone and jewelry which the officers suspected to be stolen. He was arrested and a search of his home address in West Bay revealed further suspected stolen items. The property was later established to have come from a burglary on Captain Blodsit Road in West Bay that occurred that same day.

The man, age 44, is currently in Police Custody at George Town Police Station.

Police arrest four on separate matters in Eastern Districts

Four Arrests on Separate Matters in Eastern Districts in past 24 hours    

Yesterday, 12 August, a man, age 44, from Bodden Town, was arrested on a Court warrant for defaulting to pay fines in connection with possession of ganja and illegal gambling (selling lottery tickets). At the time of his arrest yesterday police found him in possession of ganja, cash and lottery tickets, and he was arrested on suspicion of these offences again.

Later in the evening a foreign national, age 39, was arrested for overstaying his time.  His matter is being handled by the Immigration Department.

Early Thursday morning, 13 August, a man and a woman were arrested in Midland Acres.  The man, age 24, was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident, theft of a motorbike, handling stolen goods, possession of ganja, and other traffic offenses. This arrest is in connection with the accident on 15 July 2015 in the vicinity of Beach Bay Road in which the driver of a car involved hit a tree and received minor injuries. The woman, age 30, who was in his company this morning, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing ganja.  Both the man and woman are from Bodden Town.

All 4 persons are in currently in police custody.
