The National Trust of the Cayman Islands (NTCI) is calling for assistance in increasing its membership numbers while also raising a total of CI$10,000 to support its vital programmes. Corporations, individuals and students are invited to participate in the ‘I am Cayman’ social medial challenge.

The drive welcomes not only Caymanians, but anyone who considers the Cayman Islands to be ‘home’ and runs from October to November 2015.

“The National Trust is the only charity in the Cayman Islands preserving both natural environments and places of historic significance. We need members of the community to take a stand to help spread the word about the vital work being carried out for present and future generations,” said Danielle Watler, Marketing Coordinator at the National Trust. “Everything we do is for the people of the Cayman Islands and we cannot do it without the support of our community.”

Caymanians can join two different ways: the individual (including children) category and the corporate category. Both categories can be entered, as long as the category criteria are met. Community members are encouraged to participate in the National Trust challenge by:

The first phase of the campaign will focus on the individual category, which kicked off on 1 October. During this time, participants have the entire month of October to achieve reward points on social media. Every time a person shares a post, the total number of “likes” or “shares” it receives will be added to that person’s final score.

The winner of the ‘Individual’ category will be announced at the end of October and will receive a weekend getaway for friends and family at a first class villa, thanks to Cayman Villas, and a $50 gas voucher, courtesy of Rubis.

The second phase of the campaign will begin on 1 November, and will focus on the corporate category of the challenge. The Trust invites companies to participate in a matching membership initiative that will go on throughout the month of November. Companies who reward their staff with National Trust memberships by matching 50 per cent of the membership fee for each employee (approximately $15 per person) will receive points for each employee they sign up.

Additionally, companies can host any type of fundraiser for the benefit of the Trust (i.e., dress down days, bake sales, online campaigns, etc.). The total funds raised will also be added to the points tally. The highest number of points earned (member enrollments plus social media reward points plus fundraising totals) will determine the overall winner in the corporate category on 30 November.

The victorious ‘corporate’ candidate will receive a “Farm to Table” dinner experience for twenty staff members, courtesy of Cayman Cabana, and recognition in local media, highlighting the winning company’s commitment to protecting Cayman’s unique environment and heritage.
