Man charged with Wounding and Common Assault, 5 July

A man, age 24 of West Bay, has been charged with one count of Wounding and two counts of Common Assault. The charges are in relation to an incident in West Bay on Monday, 2 July, involving two men and two women, all known to each other, in which one of the men received non-life-threatening stab wounds and the two women were physically assaulted.

He appears in court this morning, 5 July.

Assault GBH in George Town, 4 July

At about 11:45PM on Wednesday, 4 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a serious assault at an address in Tropical Gardens, George Town. An elderly woman was assaulted by a man known to her and sustained multiple lacerations. Emergency personnel attended the scene and treated the woman, who was then transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital. She has undergone surgery and remains in critical condition.

A man, age 83 of George Town, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault GBH and attempted murder. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
