To assist the Principal in establishing the vision and leadership of the school enabling students and staff to achieve effective learning through ensuring outstanding educational provision. The deputy principal works with others and assists with evaluating the school’s performance to identify priorities for continuous improvement and the raising of standards, while developing policies and practices and for ensuring resources are effectively and efficiently used to achieve the aims and objectives of the school.

Requirements include:

A bachelor’s degree and professional teaching qualification from a recognised institution/ authority
Five (5) to seven (7) years successful teaching experience in a minimum of two schools; at least three (3) years of which must have been middle or senior leadership position or working within an SEN context at management level
Specialist qualification in special educational needs combined with strong skills in teaching and learning processes for children with special educational needs
Knowledge and experience in other areas impacting the position such as community liaison, staff training and ICT integration are highly desirable and would be an advantage
Knowledge and experience of curriculum development for students with a wide range of SEN, external examinations, data analysis and management are essential
ICT literacy, with an understanding of the current state of ICT technology in our society and its potential applications for teaching, learning and management, with a keen interest in future developments
Relevant post graduate qualification or school leadership programme (NELP/ISL (OPC)) certification or an equivalent qualification in education administration, or be willing to undertake designated training in school leadership
Experience of supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
The candidate would ideally be able to take up the role from December 2015, or earlier if available.
