Guns Stolen from West Bay home

At about 4pm on Monday, 7 August, officers responded to a report of a daytime burglary at a home in the Mount Pleasant area of West Bay. Homeowners left the residence around 6:30AM that day, and the burglary was discovered around 4:00PM.

Police were advised that two firearms, a shotgun and .22 caliber rifle, and a quantity of ammunition, had been stolen. West Bay CID is investigating.

After a query from the media it is confirmed the stolen firearms are licensed in the Cayman Islands.

The RCIPS would like to remind gun owners to properly secure weapons, and also ensure that the keys to gun safes are also properly secured.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call West Bay CID at 949-3999 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).

Students attending Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) are informed that, due to technical difficulties with the timetable, there will be no school Wednesday, 9th September 2015.

School is expected to reopen this week and parents will be informed tomorrow of the re-opening date.
