Cayman: COVID-19 Update 8 November 2021, 8a.m., 678 NEW Positives (81 active cases in Sister Islands), 118,075 vaccinations given

Grand Cayman – At 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported that 3,696 PCR tests had been conducted since the last report on Friday, 5 November. 

The Public Health Department also reported 678 positive tests as at 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November since their previous report on Friday, 5 November.           Of these positive results, nine were in travellers and 669 were from the community.

            These results brought the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands as at 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November to 2,118. 

The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stood at 3,354 as at the same time.

Up to that point, 2,785 people were in isolation either in Government isolation facilities or at home.

In addition, there were 14 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in the Cayman Islands at 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November.

As at the same time, Faith Hospital confirmed there were 81 active cases in the Sister Islands, with two identified in the previous 24 hours and both from the community. 

The Public Health department also confirmed that up to 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November there had been 832 total positive lateral flow tests since the introduction of the lateral flow test programme in the Cayman Islands. 

            Up to 8a.m. on Monday, 8 November there had also been 118,075 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands. Of these, 57,074 people (80% of 71,106) had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 54,838 individuals (77%) had completed the two-dose course. 

Additionally, 6,163 people (representing 9% of those over the age of 50) had received a third or booster dose up to that point.
