Cayman: COVID-19 Update 2 February 2021 – TWO NEW Positives, COVID vaccines administered is 10,062

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, reports that 219 COVID-19 tests have been carried out since this was last reported on Monday, 1 February 2021. Two were positive.

The individuals are asymptomatic travellers who tested positive following routine screening. They will remain in isolation until considered recovered.

The number of people in isolation, either at a government facility or in their homes, as required by the Medical Officer of Health, is 745.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered to date is 10,062, of which 2,339 represent an individual’s second dose.

Commenting on the vaccine roll-out, Dr Lee said, “I am really pleased with the roll-out of our vaccination programme in the Cayman Islands, and want to thank everyone who has stepped forward so far. I encourage those of you who are eligible to take it. The vaccine is a great tool in our fight against this deadly disease, and in time as travel increases, it will protect us from COVID-19’s deadliest effects.  Please help protect our whole community and have the vaccine when you are eligible.”
