Cayman: Cabinet Post Meeting Summary 25 January 2022

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 25th January 2022 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.

All Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present with the exception of the Hon Juliana O’Connor- Connolly, Minister for Education, District Administration and Lands. Mrs. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks acted as Temporary Minister for Education, District Administration and Lands.

At this meeting Cabinet:

  • approved in accordance with section 159 of the Companies Act (2020 Revision) for the following companies to make application to the Grand Court for restoration to the Cayman Islands Register of Companies; Byzantium International Ltd; Dragon New Media; Legado Holdings Limited; Planetary Investment Holdings Ltd; CAP Fund; Goal Time Limited; ALH Holdings Limited; Lepellian Investments Limited; Conquistador Acquisition Company, Ltd and Oxford Fund Ltd;
  • acknowledged receipt of the Cayman Islands Development Bank’s Annual Report for the year ended 31st December 2020 and authorised the Hon Minister for Finance and Economic Development to table of the Annual Report in the House of Parliament;
  • refused the request for exemption under Section 53(1) (b) of the Immigration (Transition) Act (2021 Revision);
  • advised the approval for the grant of a lease of part of the ground floor of Block OPY Parcel 94 to Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd;
  • approved in accordance with section 3 of the Veterinary Act (1997 Revision) the appointment of Dr. Brendan Lee as a member of the Veterinary Board to replace Dr. Brenda Bush;
  • approved the extension of the temporary ban on cruise ship calls until 28th February 2022 at 11:59 pm; and
  • noted the Cayman Islands’ Quarterly Trade Statistics Bulletin: April to June 2021.
