Cabinet of the Cayman Islands –  Post Meeting Summary: held on Tuesday 3rd May

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 3rd May, 2022 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.

All Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present. Mr Isaac Rankine acted as Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage.

At this meeting Cabinet:

·         Confirmed the approval granted by circulation on 28th April 2022 for the Control and Management of Covid-19 (No.3) Regulations, 2022;

·         Approved in accordance with Section 159 of the Companies Act (2022 Revision) for the following companies to make an application to the Grand Court to be restored to the Cayman Islands Register of Companies: Estero Bay Company, Goulburn Ltd. and Belgeo Holdings Company Limited;

·         Approved:

o   the cancellation of the existing 100% rent abatement in favour of tenants of the three Crown-owned shops at Block 4E Parcel 455 in lieu of a 50% rent abatement in favour of the same tenants;

o   the cancellation of the 90% abatement in favour of a tenant at Block OPY 108 in lieu of a 50% rent abatement in favour of the same;

·         Approved the following appointments to the Special Economic Zones Authority: Paul Byles as Chair, Anthony Ritch as Deputy Chair, Ridhiima Kapoor as Member, and Cora Grant-James as Member;

·         Approved conditional exemption from Section 53(1)(b) of the Immigration (Transition) Act (2022 Revision) from gainful occupation requirements for non-Caymanian;

·         Approved supplementary funding in accordance with Section 11(5) and (6) of the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision) for the Ministry of Home Affairs in theamount of

$490,000 and for the Cayman Islands Regiment in the amount of $238,968;

·         Approved transfer of funds in accordance with Section 9(5) of the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision) from Financial Year 2023 to Financial Year 2022 in the amount of $83,325.00 for PAH 8 – Management of Special Projects;

·         Approved for the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2022 to be tabled for debate in Parliament at its next sitting; and

·         Noted the submission regarding irregular Cuban migrants.
