Butterfield Partners with “Trustwave” to Assist Merchants in Protecting Credit Card Data; Complying with Industry Standards

Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited (“Butterfield”) today announced that it has partnered with Trustwave, a leading supplier of credit card security services, to help its merchant customers maintain compliance with payment industry standards and detect and avoid data breaches.

Trustwave is a leading provider of on-demand data security and payment card industry compliance management solutions to businesses and organisations throughout the world. Trustwave has helped thousands of organisations ranging from Fortune 500 businesses and large financial institutions to small and medium-sized retailers manage compliance and secure their network infrastructure with respect to data communications and critical information assets.

Butterfield has partnered with Trustwave to proactively assist merchants in complying with mandated Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS). The assessment is required by all major credit card associations to help businesses avoid large losses due to credit card data fraud. Butterfield and Trustwave have partnered to provide this service at no additional cost to merchants.

Butterfield’s Senior Manager of Card Services and Electronic Banking, Roy Tatum, said, “It is crucial to understand that data breaches can happen to any business or organisation, whether it’s a small retail operation or large global corporation. Credit card fraud can cost companies thousands of dollars annually and fraudsters are constantly looking for creative ways to commit fraud. In addition, non-compliance with PCIDSS can result in regulatory fines. At Butterfield we are committed to working together with our merchants to make payment processing more secure for businesses and their customers”.

Butterfield merchants are being asked to complete a mandatory PCIDSS self-assessment questionnaire and, if applicable, vulnerability scanning, by visiting the Butterfield online web portal at www.pci.trustwave.com/ButterfieldCayman.

Merchants who have questions or require assistance with the assessment process should contact the Butterfield Merchant Services department at (345) 815 7574 or e-mail [email protected].
