Breeze Fusion 2 Mile Run / Walk

A+smiling+finish+for+this+participantThe 7th annual Breeze Fusion 2 Mile Walk / Run took place on Saturday November 2nd and almost 130 persons came out to support the event. Organized by Breeze FM and Phoenix Athletic Club this year’s recipients, the NCVO and Clifton Hunter High School “Adopt A child program” received one thousand dollars each for their causes.

The 7th annual Breeze Fusion 2 Mile Walk / Run took place on Saturday November 2nd and almost 130 persons came out to support the event. Organized by Breeze FM and Phoenix Athletic Club this year’s recipients, the NCVO and Clifton Hunter High School “Adopt A child program” received one thousand dollars each for their causes.

The race with its new route produced winners in a multitude of categories from ages 12 and under, to 60 and over, along with Pram Pushers, and Dog Walkers. The Overall Male and Female Run winners were Dominic Corbin and Tiffany Cole with times of 10:27 and 12:54 respectively. The winner for the Walk category for men was Deputy Governor Franz Manderson who was also Patron of the Race and Ashanti Minott for females.

This Year’s corporate sponsors included LIME, Maedac and Wata, Monster Nutrition, Cayman National Bank, Roma United Sports Club, Advantage Copy and Print plus over 10 retail partners joined the initiate and provided gifts for the random door prize draw. All participants received a goodie bag, and a participation medal.

Organizers say this was the best year by far as it did not rain and the cool breeze was a welcoming change for all participants.

Even+the+pouchies+walkedThe Route

Start at the entrance of Smith Cove, South Sound, then go up South Church street and turn onto Denham Thompson Way. The race route then proceeds right onto Walkers Road, going up along past the Chapel Church, then turning right at the end of the road on to South Church Street and back down and around to Smith Cove. Marshalls will be on hand to guide participants along the route.

Since the first Breeze Fusion in 2007, part-proceeds have gone to the National Council for Voluntary Organizations (NCVO), an independent, non-profit, charitable organization which engages in projects to meet the ever-growing needs of the community. A second beneficiary is also chosen each year. This year it will be Clifton Hunter High School’s ‘Adopt-a-Child’ program.

2012: Breeze 105.3 Breeze FM, did its part to help residents in becoming more physically active while making philanthropic contributions to both the NCVO and Rotaract Blue as it conducted its 6th annual Breeze Fusion Walk/Run on Saturday November 3rd. Over 149 participants turned out for the 3 kilometer or 2 mile Fun Run, besting the previous year’s attendance. Commented Radio Cayman Deputy Director Paulette Conolly–Bailey “105.3 Breeze FM and its sister station 89.9 Radio Cayman were proud to come together along with a host of fantastic sponsors to organize such a great event. It is always great that we are able to have person to person interaction with our listeners, but it’s really special to be able to give back to our community.”

The race with its new route produced winners in a multitude of categories. The Overall Male and Female Run winners were Dominic Corbin and Leslie Ann Bailey with times of 10:23 and 13:18 respectively. The winner for the Walk category for men was Owen Bailey and Marcella Uncy for females.

A fundraiser for community outreach, the NCVO and Clifton Hunter High School’s “Adopt-a-Child Programme” were this year’s beneficiaries. Each received a donation of $1,000.00
