East End death – Update

The RCIPS can now confirm that the body found in the East End area yesterday, Sunday 12 January 2014, was that of a 45-year-old RCIPS officer.

The officer was a Police Constable stationed at George Town police station. He was suspended from duty at the time of his death and was on police bail following his arrest last Friday on suspicion of blackmail and breach of trust, in contravention of the Penal Code and Anti-Corruption Law respectively.

His family members, on island and overseas, have been informed. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed.

There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report of the circumstances will be forwarded to the Coroner’s office.
