August events at Camana Bay

520_logoCamana Bay, Grand Cayman: From a host of family-friendly activities to keep little ones entertained throughout the summer and a series of cooking classes inspired by flavours from around the world to interactive evenings for literary lovers and a series of movies shown under the stars – there is always something happening at Camana Bay!

Graham Morse Book Signing & Presentation

Sports fans are invited to join local author Graham Morse for the launch of his new biography, Sir Walter Winterbottom:  The Father of Modern English Football. As the first manager of the England football team, Sir Walter Winterbottom was an innovator of modern coaching and one of the most influential men in the sport. Drawing from interviews, personal diaries, letters and photographs, Morse, Winterbottom’s son-in-law, offers unique insight into the life of the man who laid the foundations of modern English football. This free event will include an author presentation, group discussion and book signing.

First Friday Live on The Paseo

Kick start the weekend with a live music performance from Suite Elite, who will play favourite Pop, Reggae, Disco, Funk and Soul hits from through the decades. In honour of International Friendship Week, local not- for-profit organisation Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands will join the festivities to share information on their programmes, including community-based mentoring, school-based mentoring and other group activities programmes. a worthy cause!

The Budding Chef Summer Cooking Camp

Every Tuesday, families can come together to enjoy a different movie under the stars in beautiful Gardenia Court. Enjoy dinner from one of Camana Bay’s signature restaurants before the movie, set up a picnic on the grass, or just bring a blanket, relax and enjoy the show.

Kids’ Cultural Workshop

Camana Bay is partnering with local artists to offer a series of workshops designed to promote Caymanian culture and heritage. The Bookends Club

Join The Bookends Club when they meet to review their latest pick, Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford. One of Mitford’s most beloved novels, Love in a Cold Climate is a sparkling romantic comedy that vividly evokes the lost glamour of aristocratic life in England between the wars. Jenny Davidson Book Signing

Join Columbia University English professor and acclaimed author Jenny Davidson for the Cayman Islands launch of her new intellectual thriller, The Magic Circle. Three young women are obsessed with games of all kinds, devoting themselves to both the academic study of play and the design of games based on the secret history of the neighbourhood around Columbia University. When live-action role-playing based on classic Greek tragedy is introduced, the games get dangerous. This free event will include an author presentation, group discussion and book signing.

Drum Circle

Professional drummers Randy Cholette, Damion Thaxter and Eden Hurlston of the musical group I Am Percussion Ensemble bring the Town Centre to life with a jam session featuring African, Cuban and Caymanian rhythms.

Cayman Islands Humane Society “Walk and Wag” 5K Run/Walk

Join the Cayman Islands Humane Society for their canine-friendly “Walk and Wag” 5K Walk/Run. Dogs are welcome to this event and participants can choose from two route options (one lap or two laps). Registration is CI$25 and all participants will receive a gift bag full of canine-friendly items and be entered into a random prize draw. The first 100 participants to register will receive a free event t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the animals at the shelter, including efforts to provide homes, basic necessities and medical treatment.
