Following their recent campaign asking people “to be a hero and do something amazing” with the ‘leap second’ that was added to the atomic clock on 30 June 2015, Aon Cayman has donated CI$5,000 to the triumphant Cayman Islands Special Olympics team.
The Aon Cayman team congratulated Cayman’s Special Olympics Team on their athletic pursuits in California, where the team returned to Cayman with 52 medals. The haul included 21 gold, 11 silver and 20 bronze medals.
There were some outstanding achievements across the board including from Cayman’s swimmers who were on top form in the pool and in the open water events. Kanza Bodden  won a gold medal in the 800 metre race, where she finished a lap ahead of everyone else. She also won a bronze medal in the 1500 metre open water swim, and a team bronze in the 4 x 50 metre relay event. The Games attracted thousands of athletes from across the globe including the Cayman Islands athletes.
Aon Cayman managing director, Adrian Lynch, was thrilled with the community’s support of the Special Olympics team. “There was an outpouring of support from the Cayman community to help get our amazing team to the Special Olympics World Games in California. All of the athletes were able to take the trip and represent Cayman in their respective sports. This is a heart-warming story and Aon Cayman is pleased to have been able to play some small part in this”, he said.
