Acting Governor Administers Oaths to Two Judges

Acting Gov, CICA JudgeHis Excellency the Acting Governor, Mr. Franz Manderson, Cert. Hon., JP, administered oaths of office and allegiance to newly appointed Cayman Islands Court of Appeal Judge, Sir Richard Ground, OBE, and Acting Grand Court Judge, Hon. Nova Hall, JP, on Monday, 8 April 2013.

Following the oaths ceremony at the Government Administration Building, the Acting Governor said, “It is a privilege to welcome Sir Richard to the Court of Appeal and Hon. Hall as a Grand Court Judge.

“I want to thank Sir Richard for taking on an important appointment and to serve once again in the Cayman Islands. We are all well aware of his excellent judicial and legal backgrounds.”

ActingGov, Judge HallwebThe Acting Governor continued, “I also welcome Hon. Hall to her new position. I am certain she will do very well, performing to the high standard she has set for herself as the Chief Magistrate.”

He added, “I thank the Hon. Chief Justice for his commitment to succession planning and giving his staff opportunities to develop themselves in other capabilities.”

In turn, Sir Richard noted, “I’m very honoured by the appointment and grateful to have an opportunity to return to the Islands where I’ve spent so many productive years of my professional life.” (Sir Richard is a former Attorney General of the Cayman Islands.)

Hon. Hall said, “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity and I will certainly do my best to fulfil all of my duties.”
