A legendary performance from the Legend himself

John Legend truly lived up to his name by delivering a legendary, red-hot performance in front of a crowd of thousands at Camana Bay.

From the second the master musician singer/songwriter came onstage it was clear he was at home and in his element. With effortless ease, he had the audience enthralled with the magic of R&B and the very best in contemporary soul, with, it must be added, one of the best soul voices ever.

Mr Legend got things off to an atmospheric start with the darkly simmering Hard Times. He also performed his new single, Tonight, by all accounts the very first public performance of the song, before treating the audience to the very best from his four albums, Get Lifted, Once Again, Evolver, and Wake Up!

He also paid homage to the music tradition of the Caribbean by covering Bob Marley’s Redemption Song. He did it justice, too, bringing out the reflectively sad nature of the song.

He is the recipient of nine Grammy Awards, and in 2007, he received the special Starlight award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

However, it’s been a long road to stardom for Mr. Legend, (Real name, John Stephens) who began his musical career by playing piano and collaborating with often better-known artists, such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill.
