Cayman: 5th Agriculture Show: “Food Security – Everybody’s Business”

Showcasing the Best in Cayman Farming

Bodden Town, Cayman Islands, 9 February 2024 – The Cayman Islands Agricultural Society (CIAS) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 55th Agriculture Show is scheduled for Ash Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, at the Stacey Watler Agricultural Pavilion in Lower Valley, Bodden Town. The event will run from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and promises to be a day filled with family-oriented activities, showcasing the finest in Cayman farming and agribusiness.

This year’s theme, “Food Security – Everybody’s Business,” underscores the critical importance of ensuring a reliable and accessible food supply in the face of global challenges. With a growing concern about global food security, particularly during emergencies and natural disasters, the CIAS aligns with the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to create a local Food and Nutrition Security Policy. The event encourages farmers and attendees to support these initiatives, addressing issues such as food prices, shortages, and nutritional security.

“This year’s Agriculture Show theme emphasises the crucial role each of us plays in ensuring the well-being of our community. The event not only celebrates the hard work and dedication of our local farmers but also underscores the importance of food security as a collective responsibility,” said CIAS President, Justin Woods.

We invite the wider public to join us for this family-oriented event, showcasing the very best in the Cayman farming community,” he added.

The event, supported by the Department of Agriculture and Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, has become a staple in the community, bringing together farmers, agribusinesses, and the wider public to celebrate the importance of Cayman’s agricultural heritage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for children under 2 and seniors 65+. The official opening ceremony will take place at 10am.
