YCLA Wilkerson off to Cayman Brac

YCLA recipient Brianna Wilkerson will double her engagements in one month; is off to Cayman Brac

George Town, 9 January 2017 — YCLA recipient Brianna Wilkerson is actively fulfilling her mission as a role model and mentor for the youth of Cayman. Since receiving her award last November, Brianna has presented at more than a dozen engagements and over 1,300 people in Grand Cayman alone, and has scheduled another dozen events in the month of January to reach as many students as possible in the beginning of the new year, when everyone is open to fresh starts and change. She is currently preparing to make a trip to Cayman Brac to address school children there

Assessing her time since being chosen to receive the YCLA Award, Brianna says,

“Being selected as YCLA recipient, has been such a humbling experience and a great honor and responsibility. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten the privilege to share with both the younger and older people of Cayman the great purpose they were created for. As I’ve shared more about my story and journey with understanding my purpose with everyone, others have come to me and have shared how inspiring my words were for them and how it challenged them to not be complacent, but to discover, pursue and thrive in their life, purpose and potential more. One of the most memorable moments to me was not just getting the opportunity to speak at the Duke of Edinburg International Awards in December, but also listening to the student speakers share about their experience with leadership and understanding their potential. My heart was filled with joy to see other young Caymanians who see their worth, potential and purpose and is making the decision while they are young to take advantage of the opportunities in front of them to grow as individuals and to also lead their peers with integrity, responsibility and a caring heart. My time as the YCLA Recipient has been a gift and blessing to me so far and I look forward to the opportunity to inspire others and also learn from them in the year ahead.” Says Mrs. Wilkerson

Young audiences are clearly inspired by Brianna’s message regarding motivation and purpose. Brianna will be flying off to Cayman Brac on January 12th to talk to school children there. She is carrying her message to all of the schools in the Sister island in one day. Past Recipients have also visited the schools in the Sister Islands and the school representatives are very excited to have the YCLA Recipient once again this year visit.
