Why my iPhone won’t ring

Many iPhone users complain about their iPhone not ringing when they receive an incoming call. This can be a frustrating problem, especially if you’ve been waiting for an important call to ring. If you’re experiencing this issue, there are several solutions you can try. Whether you’re running iOS 10 or iPhone X, these tips will work on all supported iPhone models.

First, check if the phone is set to vibrate only. For some iPhones, this option is enabled by default. In this case, you may need to change the ringer volume to increase the phone’s ringing volume. You can also adjust the ringer’s volume in Settings. Similarly, you can increase the volume of the phone’s notifications.

Another good reason for the phone to not ring is if you have turned off Do Not Disturb. There are several ways to disable Do Not Disturb on an iPhone, including via Siri. It’s easy to forget that this feature is on your phone and you could accidentally turn it on. Alternatively, you can just turn it off in Settings, but it’s best to avoid this if possible. The Do Not Disturb icon is located in the control center.

The ringer has several features, but if yours doesn’t ring, it’s likely due to a hardware or software failure. You can use the physical ringer switch to switch it on and off, or you can go to Settings and tap the “Rings and Alerts” option. Lastly, you can use the slider in the Sounds and Haptics section of the Settings app to raise or lower the ringer’s volume.

In addition to the ringer, the iPhone has a dedicated silent button. This can be found at the left side of the phone, next to the volume up and down buttons. Alternatively, you can plug in headphones and see if they ring.

However, if your phone is still not ringing, it might be time to take it to an authorized Apple service center. They can check the phone for any hardware faults and perform a full hardware and software checkup. While you’re there, you might want to try an antistatic brush to clean any debris that might be clogging up the port.

Finally, you might want to consider turning on Bluetooth. Some iPhones have problems with Bluetooth devices, so it’s always a good idea to test the device with a different accessory. To check if your Bluetooth accessory is functioning, you can open the Settings app, then tap the Information icon next to the name of the device. A list of all available Bluetooth devices will appear. Turning on the device will start a new connection, but you’ll have to confirm it.

Lastly, if you haven’t heard a ring on your iPhone for a long time, you might want to restart it. Restarting an iPhone will restore all settings and restore the original options.

If you’re not comfortable resetting your iPhone, you can also try a soft reset. Hold down the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. After a couple of minutes, the iPhone will reboot.
