Walkers partner acquitted of assault

Grand Cayman -28 November 2012 – Mark Lewis was today acquitted of a single allegation of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. His reputation has been entirely vindicated. He will continue in his role as a partner of Walkers Global as he did throughout the proceedings.

Mr. Lewis would like to thank his partners and colleagues at Walkers and the witnesses who made themselves available at trial. He would also like to express his sincere thanks to the local community for its overwhelming support and to his legal team, Trevor Burke QC, David McGrath and Ben Tonner of Samson & McGrath.

Mr Lewis, 52, with Walkers for 16 years locally, is managing partner for clients and senior investment funds, specialising in mainstream corporate work and hedge funds. He is also chairman of the executive committee of the Alternative Investment Management Association, which looks after the hedge fund industry in the Cayman Islands.

A 30 November, 2011 hearing in the case was in camera, preventing any report of the summary court proceedings following an order by presiding Magistrate Valdis FoIdats.

Lewis was charged with one count of Assault ABH.
