Veteran journalist is new VP at Cayman Weekly

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands — Ben Meade, former News Director for Cayman 27, joins the ranks of Cayman Weekly. Mr. Meade’s appointment begins on Monday October 12, 2015.

“I look forward to building on the solid foundation that has been laid and continue crafting a product the people of the Cayman Islands can be justly proud of that is synonymous with accuracy and truth. It is a challenge and a responsibility I wholeheartedly accept,” said Mr. Meade, who has previously worked at the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Cayman Weekly, formerly Employment Weekly, was launched in March 2013 and has grown to become a regular must-read for residents. Its unique format colourful pictures positive stories and non-political agenda have been viewed as a breath of fresh air by many readers.

“We have taken our time and executed our strategy,” says Mr. Ralph Lewis, Owner and Publisher. “The time has come to include the expert knowledge and skills of a seasoned journalist like Mr. Meade and his nearly two decades worth of experience and ability will further enhance our product.”

As Vice President, Mr. Meade will be responsible for news and educational content of the publication, providing analytical coverage of local events from time to time.

“What we will be doing quite frequently is taking a step back and breaking down the issues at hand, providing unbiased analysis on matters of importance to the people of the country and allowing our community to be properly informed on developments that will impact on their lives,” said Mr. Meade.

“The goal of Cayman Weekly is to become one of the premier news outlets in Cayman and the Caribbean and Ben will most definitely assist in making this dream a reality,” adds Mr. Lewis.

Mr Meade joins a team of reporters that include Mike Jarvis, former BBC Caribbean Senior Producer.

Cayman Weekly is available 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Fridayacross Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands and the full newspaper can be downloaded from the website www.caymanweekly.ky.
