UPDATE: Man Charged with GBH for Wounding Incident in George Town

Update:

A man, age 18 of North Side, who was circulated as wanted by the police and arrested on 12 April, has now been formally charged with Assault GBH in relation to an incident which took place on Market Street, George Town, on Saturday, 16 March, where a man was assaulted with a bladed weapon by another man known to him.

He appears in court today, 15 April.

Initial Press Release: 

Just before 7:40PM on Saturday 16 March, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to Market Street, George Town where it was reported that a wounding incident had taken place.

It was reported that two men, who are known to each other, were engaged in a dispute which resulted in one of the men being assaulted by the other using a bladed weapon. The injured man was rendered first aid by security and police officers following which he was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The other involved party fled the scene prior to the police arrival, however, a weapon believed to have been used to carry out the assault was located and recovered as evidence. No other injuries have been reported to the police as a result of this incident.

The incident is being investigated by the police and detectives are seeking witnesses to this incident to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
