Sat (26) is the last big celebration for The Big Draw KY

Big Draw starts Fri (24) at NGSaturday (26) is the last BIG celebration for Big Draw. NGCI is hosting an action packed family fun day that runs from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM and they would like to invite everyone to come out and celebrate the art of drawing at this event.

The grounds of the National Gallery will transform into an interactive festival of drawing for all ages. Activities include, drop-in sessions, workshops, art screenings, drawing competitions, and lots more. Alongside activities and workshops there will be live music, face-painting, an art sale in the Gallery Gift Shop, and the NGCI Art Café will be open serving a selection of freshly made cakes and specialty teas and coffees. Admission to the Big Draw Family Fun Day is free.The Big Draw is the biggest drawing festival in the world!

October has been Big Draw month in fifteen countries, with over 200,000 people taking part every year. Hundreds of new and enjoyable drawing activities connect people of all ages with museums, galleries, outdoor spaces, artists – and each other. These events are for those who love to draw, and those who think they can’t!

The Big Draw encourages everyone to draw. Big Draw events highlight the power of drawing to help people see, think, invent, and take action. Along with this exhibition,

The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands has been hosting a range of Big Draw activities during October, including documentary screenings, a panel discussion, and a day of free creative activities for the whole family.

Family Fun drop-in session

Get arty with your kids at this family drop-in session. Try out drawing illustrations and cartoons inspired by the popular Tom Gates series of books, and create your own mini book all about you!

Drawing stations

Throughout the day you can stop by one of our drawing stations to try drawing a range of subjects. Learn the easy way to draw a labyrinth, follow a step-by-step guide to drawing a parrot, and try your hand at drawing Manga villians!

Draw the future competition

Using images in the gallery for inspiration we are asking children and young people to ‘draw tomorrow’. Using their imagination and drawing skills can they create a picture showing a car, boat or stamp of the future? Prizes will be award for the best drawings.

Screenings

Enjoy finding out about the secrets of drawing as explored in two BBC documentaries being shown during the morning of our Family Fun day. Then at 1pm we will be showing Spirited Away. Made by Studio Ghibli a Japa-nese studio known for its anime features. This is a film of mesmerising beauty which is frequently cited as one of the greatest animated features of all time.
