The Editor Speaks: Give thanks

Colin Wilsonweb2I must take this opportunity to give thanks to all the people who called me (I had 29 missed calls on my cell phone) to inform me and to inquire as to the health of my wife and iNews Cayman publisher, Joan Wilson, after her bad car accident last Sunday morning.

When the ambulance arrived to take Joan into hospital the First Assembly Church of God members had surrounded her car that was laying vertically nose down and saying prayers for her safety.

I give thanks that nobody else was hurt in the crash.

I give thanks she suffered only minor cuts and bruises (that look horrific) and a Mike Tyson nose. The real serious damage is to her vertebral column that holds the ribs together. That is badly fractured right in the centre.

Of course, she is in chronic pain that I am told by the doctors will last for at least three weeks and she will be ‘cursing’ me out.

Joan doesn’t curse but she does shout and I said “I am used to that”.

Joking aside, Joan is VERY lucky to be alive and although she blames the air bags for her discomfort they saved her life with God’s guidance.

I give thanks to the exemplary and caring doctors and nurses plus the cheerful auxiliary staff at the George Town Hospital.

I give thanks for all the prayers and the people that came to visit her.

I give thanks to God.
