Summary for Cayman Parliament – Monday, 26 February 2024

The House of Parliament opened yesterday, Monday, 26 February for the Third Meeting of the 2023 – 2024 Parliament Session.  

The morning began solemnly as Premier Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly expressed the government’s concern regarding the Ed Bush Field shooting incident in West Bay that took place on Sunday, 25 February.  “The Government conveys our deepest sympathy and fervent prayers to all those affected by this unfortunate incident. We appeal to all members of the community who witnessed the incident to come forward and provide information. Anyone with information is urged to contact the RCIPS.” shared the Premier.  Government business began with the presentation of papers and reports by the respective Ministers and Government Officials followed. The Annual Reports presented were;

  • Ministry of Home Affairs – Cayman Islands Government – Annual Report 2021
  • Ministry of Home Affairs – Cayman Islands Government – Annual Report 2022
  • 2022 Annual Report – Health Services Authority Cayman Islands – Recognising the efforts of our past, present and future.
  • National Drug Council Cayman Islands – Annual Report 2022 – Prevention. Education. Policy & Research.
  • OfReg – 2022 Annual Report 
  • Ministry of Sustainability & Climate Resiliency – Cayman Islands Government – Annual Report 2022 

The House will return for the Second Sitting of the Third Meeting at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, 27 February.
