STEP Cayman Islands to host Wealth Structuring Conference

Grand Cayman, 19 April 2022.  Cayman’s specialist trusts and estates practitioners, and the wider private wealth community, will gather on Thursday 28 April for a Wealth Structuring Conference hosted by the STEP Cayman Islands Branch at the Kimpton Seafire.  A much-anticipated fixture in the international private wealth advisors’ calendar, the forum is focused on promoting the Cayman Islands as a leading jurisdiction for private clients, wealth management and the administration of cross border trust and estates.

This year’s half day format will host panel discussions to explore the new requirements of modern beneficiaries and industry experts will share their predictions for trends in trusts for the coming year.

A panel session entitled “New Beneficiaries, New Frontiers” led by Carlos Pimentel, Partner and Group Head of the Private Client and Trusts department of the Appleby Group, will examine what modern beneficiaries want and how trustees can meet those needs.

“There’s been a global shift over the past decade towards socially conscious investing, with investors and a new generation of beneficiaries equally focused on enterprises that generate social and financial gains in equal measure,” shared Mr. Pimentel.   “This panel will discuss the changing approach of today’s beneficiaries to investment, innovative structures and new classes of investments, as well as key investment concerns such as ESG and diversity.”

The second panel session, “Trends in Trusts,” will be an interactive session moderated by Shan Warnock Smith, QC, with a group of subject experts sharing their thoughts on the emerging developments in the trust industry, as well as exploring which current practices are declining and what advisors can expect in the coming year.

The event will also include the launch of this year’s “Trust Cayman” magazine published by STEP Cayman, showcasing the latest developments in the Cayman Islands trust industry and featuring commentary and analysis from local STEP branch members.

This year’s forum will take place at the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, on the afternoon of Thursday 28 April, 12:30 PM – 6:30 PM. Registration is US $200 for non-STEP members and US$150 for members.
