Royal Caribbean apprentice competition attracts almost 35,000 entries

By Harry Kemble From Travel Weekly

Royal Caribbean International’s competition to find an apprentice to test its shore experiences has attracted nearly 35,000 entries since it launched just over two weeks ago.

The winner of the competition to fill the Shore Explorer ‘Apprentice-Ship’ role, open to agents and consumers, will visit destinations including Japan, Alaska, Europe, the Middle East and be one of the first people to step foot on Royal Caribbean’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The chosen apprentice will be paid for £2,000 during the three week placement.

Entries can be made via Instagram post, video or Instagram TV and must contain the Royal Caribbean tag – @RoyalCaribbeanUK – and the hashtag #ShoreExplorer.

When the competition launched at the beginning of the month, Ben Bouldin, Royal Caribbean International’s managing director for UK & Ireland, said: “We’re excited to invite our trade agents, as well as the general public, to apply to for this once in a lifetime position.

“Our agents work so hard to promote our incredible on-land experiences that guests can enjoy as part of our cruise holidays, so it’s fantastic that we are able to offer them the opportunity to help influence and curate our shore excursion programme for 2019 and beyond.”

To apply via Instagram share your best travel story, image or video by tagging @RoyalCaribbeanUK and #ShoreExplorer by March 1.
